Day 9: 30 day challenge reincarnated.

I’m just going to do the 30 day challenge, without the strict time contingencies. lol.

Day 9 is how important do you think education is?

I think it’s very important.  Education affects your entire life.  Especially when it comes to literacy.

Why can’t we have some meat?

Well the Two Towers was even better than the Fellowship of the Ring.  It was longer, the theatre was more packed, some people would say I WASTED 3.4 hours of my life but once again it was WELL WORTH IT!!!! I have to admit, I did have to do the walk of shame and go to the bathroom in the middle of the movie because, I’m not sure if I could have held it through the entire battle of Helm’s Deep and I wasn’t about to MISS any of that.  LMAO.

The saddest part was seeing all of the best parts without my best friend Brandi, who pointed them out to me in the first place.

“Why can’t we have some meat?”

My man Aragorn was sexy as ever, especially in the extended scenes that I enjoy so MUCH. =)  I find it so hilarious the way he can lean his head against a rock and after a few seconds say with certainty, “Their pace has quickened. They must have caught our scent. Hurry!” I mean there’s tracking skills, and then there’s just insanity! Also, I love Brego.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

I saw Lord of the Rings in theaters yesterday! It was EPIC.  it was the first time I’d seen the extended edition and the first time I’d seen it on the big screen!

I had a marvelous time and particularly enjoyed laughing with the crowd at all the fun parts. “I ain’t been droppin’ no eaves sir honest!” (LOL)

I couldn’t believe how much extended footage there was and how much it added to the film!! It made sitting through 3.24 hours of movie SO worth it! Everything I had previously been confused about or had to ask someone to explain was clear.

I can’t wait to see Two Towers next Tuesday if I get the chance!!! =D and I think I’m finally going to start reading the books.

and….X-Men First Class+ James McAvoy= Melanie leaving the theater like a giddy insane person.

Childhood Memories

Since I’m a very nostalgic person and love to look back fondly on the past, I really want to blog about some of my favorite things I remember about being a kid…in the 90s.

1. Polly Pocket

Back when I was a kid Polly Pocket was literally the size of a thumb tack.  All the houses and play sets were the about the size of a makeup compact.  Except maybe the special ones which were a little bigger.  I probably had every single one.  I even had one that was a jungle and came with animals, which was probably my favorite.  No doubt some of the best toys ever.

Apparently kids started eating them or something because now Polly Pocket is just like a stupid version of Barbie.  She has outfits and convertible cars etc.  I think the cool thing about the original Polly Pocket was that it was so small and you could fit all the pieces inside the little compact and take it with you easily.  I guess I was just smart enough not to eat them.  =)

2. Harry Potter

I have a very special place in my heart for the Harry Potter books.  If we’re talking about my childhood we have to bring it up.  I pretty much grew up as Harry did because I was around 10 when I started reading them and around 17 or 18 when the last book came out.  I still remember signing my name on the wait list at the elementary school library to check out the first one, and how proud I was that I finished it in 3 days. lol.

3. Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh is just awesome hands down.  Just the most adorable, quotable, hilarious stuff ever.  Here are a couple of my favorite quotes. HILARIOUS.

“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,” said Piglet at last, “what’s the first thing you say to yourself?”

“What’s for breakfast?” said Pooh. “What do you say, Piglet?”

“I say, I wonder what’s going to happen exciting today?” said Piglet.

Pooh nodded thoughtfully.

“It’s the same thing,” he said.

Rabbit: Oh, dear. Oh, gracious. Oh. Well, it all comes from eating too much.
Winnie the Pooh: It all comes from not having front doors big enough!

4. Barney

“Barney is a dinosaur from our imagination, When he’s tall he’s what we call a dinosaur sensation.” Oh dear, you guys just don’t know.  When I was a kid I loved me some Barney.  I had a stuffed Barney and when it got lost I apparently cried until my parents bought me another one.  Then I found it and had 2.

I think I was really interested by the idea of imagination, although I’ve never really had a good imagination.

My favorites were the camping one and the one where they go to a castle and ride horses and stuff.  Awesome stuff.

5. Doodle Bears

Remember those bears you could write all over and toss ’em in the washer and then do it all over again?  Heck yes.

6. The Library

OMG I freaking loved the library.  Most of my best childhood/school memories involve the library in some way.  As early as Kindergarten I can remember being so freakin’ excited to go the library (only once a week sadly).

7. Rollerblading

I still remember that I saved up all my money babysitting to buy my first pair of roller blades.  they were 50 something bucks and it took me forever to get the money, but it was so awesome to be able to buy them myself.

And then there was that one day my cousin James and I apparently rollerbladed ALL DAY and then wouldn’t get out of bed the next day.  My mom and grandma laughed at us.

8. Coloring

Coloring is awesome. Does it need an explanation? It’s perfect because the picture is already drawn and you just get the fun part of deciding what colors you want it to be.

9. The Troll in Central Park, Little Nemo, The Princess and the Goblin and other Non-Disney animated movies

Apparently Brandi is the only one who’s mother also bought these for her as a child, because it’s always so freakin’ hilarious and fun to watch these movies together and make fun of them while laughing at what we thought the movie was about when we watched it as kids.

10. The Actual Disney Movies

Every body loves those though….My favorites are Pocahontas, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and oh hell I really like all of the classics.

So…

I’m back in College Station finally and things are going much better.  We finally got Mom moved out and everything is going to be okay.

I want to apologize for the depressing posts.  I was in a bad situation and felt like I had no one to reach out to so I used this blog to get some things off my chest.

Looking forward to posting blogs on interesting topics soon!! =)

p.s. I was going to say, I know I quit the 30 day challenge thing, but I still think some of the prompts were fun and interesting so I may randomly do some of them every now and then.  I like having the freedom to pick and choose and do whichever ones I want.
